The Silent City of Mdina was brought alive on the 18th and 19th of April 2009 at the Mdina Medieval Festival organised by the Mdina Local Council in collaboration with Malta Tourism Authority and other entities. This festival attracted thousands of Maltese and foreigners who had the opportunity to learn more about the history of Malta’s old capital city.
Medieval knights, demonstrations on the use of medieval weaponry and armour, displays of costumes, exhibitions and artists at work livened the streets.
During the festival visitors were able to participate in medieval games such as jousting tournaments, football competitions and human chess challenges. Attard & Co. Foodstuffs Ltd. were the main sponsors for the chess game and gave all children who participated a bag full of Casa Fiesta goods. Casa Fiesta is produced in Europe by Santa Maria Foods. The Casa Fiesta product line includes a wide variety of sauces, dips, tortilla chips, shells, beans, rice, dinner kits and seasoning mixes.
Traditional medieval food and wine was available from stalls around Mdina and from most catering establishments. Some wine bars served wines from My Wyn selection, a unique collection of prestigious brands for wine enthusiasts, imported solely by Attard & Co. Foodstuffs Ltd.
