Attard & Co. Industrial Ltd. as official Leica Geosystems distributors were one of the gold sponsors during a conference 'Location: Exploiting the Benefits' jointly organized by the Malta Association for Geographic Information (MAGI), the Malta Institution of Surveyors (MIoS) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Malta (RICS Malta) held on the 5th of December 2008.
During this conference Attard & Co. Industrial Ltd. presented the new FlexLine range of totalstations from Leica Geosystems, and also other various surveying instruments.

The conference 'Location: Exploiting the Benefits' highlighted the ever increasing importance of location mapping in today’s world for security, risk prevention, policy and planning purposes amongst others. Keynote speaker, Vanesssa Lawrence opened the conference with an overview of the role of the Ordinance Survey Unit in Great Britain, whereby the maps are updated on a daily basis and mapping at a scale of 1:1cm takes place. The sessions included case studies from Malta and abroad. The projects addressed a number of social and scientific objectives ranging from criminology to the acquisition and applications of real time meteo-marine data. The speakers discussed the GIS mapping applications, field surveying techniques and methodologies adopted. A speaker from the Malta Environment and Planning Authority discussed Malta’s position with regards to the implementation and adoption of the EC Directive concerned with establishing an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE).
